Ganguly : Show some Daada-giri and don't retire...

Ganguly should not retire

If Ganguly is still the Dada we all loved and knew, he should decide to revisit his retirement decision. He is playing the best he has in the past few years, since he has come back to the team. A bleak series in SL is the only black spot in what has been a great performance since he has returned. The retirement was pressurized through the media. It's time the media houses decide to retire their correspondents rather than them trying to force Ganguly into one.

So Daada, go on your terms, play out atleast the England series, give us a few more moments and go out waving your whites

Favourite Commentators

Just can't believe that Shastri has been voted into the top three. He has the knack of stating the obvious, (one gets the feeling something is going to happen here). Harsha deserves to be there. Surprised that Sunny did not make to the insightful category and that Sidhu was not there in the 'Most Entertaining' category

Ugly Aussies

I used to be an Aussie fan but a series of incidents during the test match has forced me to think differently.

1) Ponting : who refused to walk when caught behind, acts like the judge to indicate Saurav was out. The same Clarke stood his ground when he edged to Dravid. Maybe Clarke hoped Bucknor would give him not out for some reason.

2) Gilchrist : the walker : heard a nick when the ball just past with a healthy distance from Dravid's bat as India battled to save the match. Gilchrist loses all the goodwill he may have accumulated over the years.

3) Symonds charging Bhajji for racial abuse. Aussies who advoated some time back that what happened on the field should remain on the field, now are the big cry babies who take stuff to the match refree. Small detail was that Bhajji and Sachin had the Aussies on the mat at that time, and this was the best way they saw to thwart India.

If Aussies are so desperate to win , they should play againt a Australia A side (as they did some years back an the ODI series). Would make them happy to win all the time.

Average it out..

There was an article in the Asian Age where a pair of managers (some Insurance company I think) came up with a new way of computing averages. They have included a factor of the average number of balls faced in an innings and use this if the batsman remains not out. This is primarily to take readjust the number of not-outs which finishers like Bevan benefit from.

I found this an interetsing concept, however the point is why should one not count the not out innings. The anlogy I draw (weak it may be) is let's say a football match or basketball. You count the whole game and not the time one played the game. Similarly in Cricket I don't see why a not out batter gets an advantage for the average, since once the game is over, there does not exist any opportunity for scoring more.
